Shëngjin is a small port and beach town on the northern coast, in the municipality of Lezhë, with a sandy beach and hills behind it. The Kune-Vain lagoons and the Rana e Hedhun sand dune are nearby; it is the closest beach to Lezhë and a usual summer choice for families from northern Albania and the wider region.
Most homes are apartments in blocks along the seafront and on the slopes above it, many of them bought as holiday homes. Activity peaks in summer and long-term rentals are fewer. As with any recent construction on the coast, check before paying that the building has its occupancy permit and that the apartment is registered at ASHK. Lezhë, a few kilometres inland, has services all year, and Shkodra and Tirana can be reached by car.
